Questions You May Have
These guiding questions and answers offer a gentle place to land, giving you the information you need as you consider your next steps.
What happens in the first session.
Your first session is a calm, welcoming space where we get to know what’s been weighing on you and what you’re hoping for. There’s no pressure to share everything at once — we move slowly, gently, and at a pace that feels safe for you.
What if I’ve never done counselling before.
Many people come to counselling for the first time feeling unsure of what to expect. You don’t need to arrive with a plan or the “right” words — we’ll move slowly, and I’ll guide you through each step so it feels clear and manageable at a pace that feels safe for you.
Is Hypnotherapy Safe.
Yes. Hypnotherapy is considered a safe, evidence‑supported therapeutic method, and you remain fully aware, responsive, and in control throughout the process. As a Clinical Hypnotherapist, I use structured, research‑informed techniques and guide each step carefully so the experience feels grounded. Many clients describe it as a calm, focused state that allows them to access a deeper level of insight and emotional processing than they can in everyday awareness. It is always used with your consent.
Tell me more about Group Therapy.
Group therapy offers a supportive space to learn skills, feel understood, and connect with others who share similar experiences. The group moves at a steady, gentle pace, and you’re welcome to participate as much or as little as feels comfortable. My first offering is the Anxiety Skills Group, and more groups will be added over time as the practice grows. Many people find that being with others helps them feel less alone and more grounded as they learn new tools.
Is online counselling effective.
Yes. Online counselling is a safe, effective way to receive support from anywhere in Ontario. Many people appreciate the comfort of meeting from their own space, and research shows that online sessions can be just as helpful as in‑person work.
What if I get emotional.
It’s completely okay to get emotional in counselling. Many people do. Your feelings are welcome here, and we move at a pace that feels safe for you. There’s no expectation to stay composed or hold anything in — emotions are a natural part of the healing process. If things feel overwhelming, I’ll help you slow down, ground yourself, and find your footing again.
